Position Overview

Reporting to the Global Head of Medical Affairs, this role is responsible for developing and execution of a clinical evidence strategy for Insulet’s global business. The individual in this role will have and will maintain an in-depth understanding of the diabetes disease state, clinical trial development, the current/future treatment landscape, and ongoing clinical trials/research. A priority for this individual will be key thought/opinion leader (KOL) engagement across the key commercial markets. This includes establishing, fostering, cultivating and maintaining relationships with KOLs as a conduit for accurate and updated clinical, scientific and medical information between KOLs and the company.


  • Develop and lead the execution of the clinical evidence strategy including development of clinical trial design
  • Generate and leverage data to support Insulet’s global commercial objectives
  • Establish and maintain credible peer-to-peer scientific relationships with national/regional KOLs and prescribers
  • Lead clinical and scientific exchange with KOLs, HCPs and practices regarding the companies marketed and pipeline products and diabetes care technology
  • Build and share knowledge with internal and external stakeholders regarding the use and benefits of current and future Insulet products
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional partners and product development teams to maximize patient access to Insulet’s current and future products
  • Facilitate effective national, regional, and local educational forums including advisory boards, congress symposia, and sponsored educational and promotional programs
  • Lead scientific and medical congresses planning and attend sessions to capture information relevant to the organization’s scientific platforms and report this information to senior leadership and internal stakeholders
  • Maintain a thorough and detailed working knowledge of the organization and its products, current scientific research and publications
  • Coach and mentor a team of Medical Affairs professionals
  • Performs other duties as required

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • MD, endocrinologist or diabetologist
  • In-depth understanding of the diabetes disease state, the current/future treatment landscape, and ongoing clinical trials/research
  • Experience with diabetes clinical trial design, execution and scientific disclosure
  • 5 + years relevant Medical Affairs experience in the diabetes pharmaceutical or device industry
  • 5 + years of clinical/hospital experience in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes
  • 5 + years of clinical research experience
  • Expert knowledge of the medical device industry, including relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards which apply to interactions with HCPs, payers, and industry representatives
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate and work in a challenging cross-functional environment
  • Excellent written and effective verbal communication skills
