Field Medical Scientist: Provention

Position summary:

Provention is a patient-centric organization which seeks to enhance and optimize the patient and prescriber experience. This opportunity in late stage manufacturing of biologics in support of the treatment of immune-mediated disease including type 1 diabetes (T1D), celiac disease, and lupus. This exciting role is within the organization’s Medical Affairs team. This position will have the primary responsibility for engaging in the exchange of scientific/medical information with health care providers. The role will also have significant collaboration within the organization regarding the company’s products.

Responsibilities include:

  • Act as the Company’s primary clinical/scientific resource to Health Care Providers (HCPs) in assigned geography for information pertaining to disease state and product(s) to ensure awareness and understanding

  • Serve as a conduit for accurate and updated clinical, scientific, and medical information between Thought Leaders (TLs) and the Company’s Medical Affairs group.

  • Leads efforts to educate field-based specialists, pediatric endocrinologist and other key medical audiences about T1D

  • Maintain and demonstrate a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of disease state, clinical information, and product data.

  • Supports efforts to understand current practices in diagnosis, disease state management, patient identification and patients among key stakeholders

  • Provides medical educational support to payers, service providers, patient advocacy groups, and other key stakeholders as requested

  • Participates in medical congresses, scientific advisory boards, regional events and patient advocacy meetings as appropriate to gather relevant information and support educational opportunities

  • Present clinical and scientific data on the Company’s product(s) and relevant therapeutic areas to formulary decision-makers, as requested.

  • Identify and communicate key clinical and research issues from industry leaders to appropriate internal partners to shape research, development, and commercial strategies.

  • Adheres to regulatory and compliance guidelines and company policies in all aspects of scientific dissemination of information to include responses to unsolicited requests for medical information

  • Represent Provention Bio in a professional, ethical, compassionate, and scientifically credible manner at all times.

  • Addresses administrative and reporting needs in timely and organized fashion

  • Establish, foster, cultivate, and maintain peer-to-peer relationships with HCPs in the therapeutic areas in which the Company has current and future interests.

  • Participate with the development and implementation of the Field Medical Scientists team strategic goals and objectives

  • Provide internal medical training support for commercial and medical colleagues

  • Engage with external researchers with interest in investigator-initiated studies aligned with goals of Provention Bio

  • Support clinical trial operations to ensure success with planned and ongoing clinical trials to include identifying, supporting, and regularly engaging clinical trial investigators and sites

Qualifications & Capabilities:

  • An advanced degree, such as MD, PhD, PharmD, Advanced Practice nurse (NP, DNP), or PA in medical sciences required

  • Advanced understanding of clinical/medical science in T1D or immunology is required

  • A minimum of two years of experience as a clinical/medical science liaison in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries required

  • Post doctorate training (e.g., fellowship or research) and clinical experience in pipeline related disease state will be considered in lieu of industry experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a hospital or clinical setting inT1D experience preferred

  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical/healthcare market, acceptable practices, and related regulations is preferred

  • Knowledge of product-related therapeutic area clinical application is strongly preferred.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills

  • Capable of engaging in frequent business travel (approximately 60 – 80 percent of time), including the ability to travel overnight and occasionally on weekends

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in virtual environment while adhering to Medical Affairs strategic direction

  • Competent and comfortable engaging and presenting in virtual engagement platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex)

  • Ability to analyze complex situations and proactively identify opportunities/issues; effectively solve problems that cross functional boundaries

  • Committed to the concept of team and working within the framework of the Medical Affairs Department and organization, including as it pertains to compliance with policies, systems, and practices

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Must live near major airport hub within geography
