To support the next generation of researchers, JCB provides the Alan Hall and Norton B. Gilula Awards that allow undergraduates, graduates, and early-career postdocs to attend Cell Bio, an annual meeting of the American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) and the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO). This year, Cell Bio 2020 Virtual will take place online December 2–16. While our awards typically support the travel of researchers to the in-person meeting, we are pleased to increase the number of awards and to support the participation of more researchers at the Cell Bio 2020 Virtual meeting.

Eligibility

Open to outstanding graduate students, and first year postdocs whose work being presented at ASCB was performed while a PhD or MD/PhD student, who excelled in their research as trainees. New this year, up to five winners will be presented with an online certificate during the meeting and receive reimbursement for registration and abstract submission to Cell Bio 2020 Virtual, up to $235 USD.

Norton B. Gilula Award: Established in memory of Norton B. “Bernie” Gilula, former JCB Editor-in-Chief. Open to outstanding graduate or undergraduate students who excelled in their research as trainees.
